Scenes from the Valley

“Scenes from the Valley” takes us to the Silicon Valley of the 1990s and tells the real story of why more women haven’t made it to the upper echelon of management.

What started as a book to help millennial and Generation Z females understand what baby boomer women had gone through to open the door for women in business became more magnanimous as the “#MeToo” movement emerged. The narrative transformed and circled into the author’s #MeToo experiences in the corporate jungle of Silicon Valley.

Each chapter of this non-fiction book includes different stories based on real-life experiences of women during their career journeys. It shares advice on overcoming blocks and challenges encountered in the corporate environment. Embedded in many scenes are different scenarios revealing the kind of “normalcy” women experienced during those times to reach C-level management, making it an eye-opener and a must-read for career guidance.

Unlike other books that blame the lack of upward mobility on women’s behavior,  Scenes from the Valley  reveals women’s choices in response to the precarious work environment.

The book officially launched on July 23, 2022, at Barnes & Noble in Tucson, Arizona, where it immediately sold out.

  • “Many of us are unfamiliar with the technology industry, but this book provides an empathetic, honest and educational portrayal of women’s stilted status in the workplace. It was staggering to learn of the extent misogyny and discrimination still existed in a field that has been held in such high regard.”

  • “Karla Trippe writes a very personal & insightful glimpse into the myriad of obstacles women faced in the 1990’s Silicon Valley world of marketing and advertising.”

  • “Karla Trippe comes from a professional world that is foreign to me. Her book “Scenes from the Valley” was enlightening, entertaining, and well written. In it, she skillfully applied words of wisdom that would be useful for anyone entering the work environment.”
