Understanding Exit Points: A Spiritual Perspective on Life, Soul Contracts, and Near-Death Experiences
Recently, someone asked if I could do a reading on exit points. It caught me by surprise because I had never encountered that term in my studies or through any of my teachers. While I couldn't answer the question at the time, it inspired me to research the concept and reflect on how it relates to my own spiritual understanding.
According to Google, "Exit points in life generally refer to either spiritual concepts of pre-planned windows for a soul to transition, or practical strategies for managing late-stage life events such as retirement, end-of-life care, and legacy."
The first definition resonated with me and closely reflects what I have come to understand through my own experiences and spiritual work.
Recognizing Life's Exit Points
From my perspective, an exit point is a moment when the soul is presented with an opportunity to leave this life or continue its journey. I believe these moments are connected to the soul contract we establish before incarnating, outlining the lessons we hope to learn during this lifetime.
Looking back, I can identify three significant moments that felt like exit points.
The first occurred at my birth. I was born in the caul, still enclosed within the amniotic sac. Although this protected my head during an unusually rapid birth, the sac collapsed once I was delivered, preventing me from breathing until a nurse quickly opened it. Had she not acted, my life may have ended before it truly began.
According to family tradition, babies born in the caul are believed to possess an increased sensitivity to the spiritual world. Whether symbolic or literal, I have often reflected on how that experience may have shaped my path.
The second occurred when I was eight years old after contracting pneumonia and spinal meningitis. By the time doctors reached the correct diagnosis, I was critically ill and experienced my first near-death experience. Even though I caught a glimpse beyond the veil, I knew I wanted to continue living and chose to fight.
My third major exit point came at age fifteen following a devastating car accident that left me with a broken neck, a fractured pelvis, and numerous other injuries. At the time, I believed my life might be ending. It wasn't until years later, through my spiritual studies, that I began to understand the deeper significance of that experience. Despite the challenges that followed, I chose to continue my journey.
Choice, Free Will, and the Soul Contract
Reflecting on these experiences has led me to believe that exit points are not simply about death. They are moments of profound spiritual choice.
Many people also ask about self-directed exit points, particularly suicide. It is an incredibly difficult subject that touches countless families. Every spiritual tradition approaches it differently.
From my own understanding, suicide is not a punishment that condemns the soul. Rather, it is a decision that ends a particular incarnation before the soul has completed the lessons it intended to learn. If those lessons remain unfinished, I believe they must eventually be revisited in another lifetime.
This perspective is one reason I value the Akashic Records so deeply. They help us understand our soul contract, the lessons we came here to learn, and the opportunities we still have to fulfill our purpose.
Finding Meaning in Life's Turning Points
Whether or not you embrace the idea of exit points, reflecting on life's major turning points can offer valuable insight into your spiritual journey.
Sometimes the moments that nearly change everything become the experiences that shape us most deeply. They invite us to examine our purpose, appreciate the gift of life, and recommit ourselves to the work our souls came here to do.
If you are curious about your soul contract or would like to explore your spiritual path through an Akashic Record reading, I would be honored to guide you. Understanding where you've been can often illuminate where you're meant to go next.
